Renaissance Club Sport Walnut Creek

Last week, we had stayed at Renaissance Club Sport Walnut Creek.

For some reason, there are two web sites for this hotel. You can see the overall information from these.

Here is my review of this 4 star hotel. I think this is one of the finest hotel in east bay area. Overall, good points far exceeds bad points. The atmosphere is family oriented rather than romantic. You can see it from the picture below. The left is a decoration on the wall of the room entrance.

The room is a little bit smaller for 4 star hotel, but bathroom is good size, bright and deluxe. The bath tub is long and deep enough to relax. Shower has double heads and bathroom sink is on the glass top and looks very sophisticated. You could guess from the pictures below.

The on-site restaurant/deli are reasonably priced and had a wonderful healthy&delicious menus (though some of the server is lazy as many people points out, but some of them provided reasonable service). The huge sports club is free to use for hotel guests and jacuzzi/steam sauna in the locker room is a huge bonus. The pool area is also huge and very good for family.
To be fair, I need to point out a few minuses. The window in the room can’t be opened, thus you can’t breath outside air in the room. Given the size of room is similar to the regular of 3 star, it might be a bit minus. Window curtain doesn’t shut off sun light completely, you should expect you will be waken up as early as sun rises.
Also, as many people says, you have no choice but valet parking with $15/day fee on site. Around the hotel, there is no fancy shopping plaza in walking distance, you need to deal with valet parking wherever you go. The “executive” desk is smaller and power plug is located in a little bit inconvenient location.

All in all, it’s a cool new concept of hotel which “Fitness” is integrated to all parts in the hotel. At the end, I’d add other complementary feature in room : Bottled water and high speed internet (wired, no wireless. This hotel is Marriott hotel group and usually Marriott charges $9.95/day which can be saved by using Boingo). Refrigerator is not standard, but it is available first come first serve base and we enjoyed it!
