「自分の意見に固執する」という意味で、「かかと」が表現に使われる所がおもしろいと思います。

dig one’s heels in

ニュアンスとしては、ニュートラルで表現自体に悪い意味はなく、例えば文脈によっては、「自分の信念を貫く」というような良い意味で頑固であるというようなニュアンスになるようです。
