Four Points Sheraton Pleasanton

This week, I had stayed Four Points Sheraton Pleasanton (only one night) and here is the review.

The room was good size with King size bed which looks nice, firm spring provides a good back support and pillow is excellent, but linens are average for 3 star hotel.

The room has large flat panel LCD TV which is nice and it makes room spacious. High Speed Internet is complimentary and gave me a good connection for my laptop.

Bathroom is regular size with gorgeous look of granite counter top and somewhat fancy soaps and shampoos. However, bath tub is very shallow

The room comes with complimentary bottled water, but it’s Arrowhead spring water which is not my favorite. If it is Calistoga or Crystal Geyser, it’s even nicer. The bootled water is placed at small cozy space along with mug cup and coffee maker which is sub-par.

The restaurant on-site is Faz which has a good reputation in bay area and you can get their meal by room service. However, room service menu is very limited and far less choice from the regular menu you see at the restaurant. I ordered Margherita Pizza and it was of cource thin crust and very delicious.

Location is very convenient at the center of Hacienda Business Park. The courtyard at the hotel has a good size of pool and jacuzzi, but it closes a bit earlier 10:00pm for business traveler. The exercise room is small, but cozy and equipped with newer (not the latest) treadmills.

So, the hotel and room well deserves 3 star, but unfortunately hotel staff doesn’t from this stay. When I checked in early afternoon, the regular front is temporary closed and hotel computer systems are very limited. Temporary registration was placed at very odd room and it is nearly impossible to find for first time visitor. The staff was processing all the work by paper. The business persons group was troubled with check in and I was waited for minutes. At the time there were 3 hotel ladies in there and one of them seems to be free, but she didn’t offer any help to me for a while. I have finally received the card key, but she told me I need to make sure to return this key because it is so-called “Master” key. I didn’t understand what exactly means, but it was funny I couldn’t open the door when I arrived in front of the room. I went back to the odd office again and told them it didn’t work and they looked strangely. Anyway, then told me the room key should be ready when I come back from work. After several hours of work, I go back to the hotel and went straight to the odd office location. Then I found nothing is there! But there still were signs all around the hotel. I reluctantly went to the regular front and I found the computer systems are back online. I told them I need to receive the keys, but no one knows what I’m talking. So, I didn’t receive any apologies for inconvenience or whatsoever. Yes, I received the key, but this shouldn’t happen at 3 star quality staff.

Another incident I’ve encountered at this stay is disgusting facial tissue story. When I used facial tissue, I thought it has a very odd smell slightly, but I didn’t mind much. However, the more I used in the next morning, the stronger smell gets. I finally realized that it must be soaked with some kind of bathroom cleaner from the bottom of the tissue box. I think room maid spilled a cleaner and didn’t replace the tissue box and left it. I should have noticed it when I first used it, but it was too late when I found it when I almost check out. I believe this is just one in hundred incident, but it was disgusting.

Having said that all bad experiences, the hotel itself and room is nice, good location and I wouldn’t argue it is a 3 star, but satisfaction isn’t more than 90% because of not so professional 2 star qualiy hotel staff.
